Philippine Tarsier in Bohol

In case you didn't know the Philippine Tarsier is endemic to the Philippines. Living mainly in Bohol Island as well as Samar and Mindanao, it's one of the most distinct creatures on Earth.

Tarsiers are also called Kupal and Mamag in Tagalog and believe it or not, it was only discovered in 18th century.

Tarsiers are one of the smallest primates known to man, measuring only around 100 mm in height and weighting about 120 grams.

Interesting facts about Tarsiers

1. Their eyes are fixed in their sockets so basically they cannot move them around. Instead, they move their head around, up to 180 degrees!

2. Tarsier's eyes are huge and officially have the largest eye to body size ratio of all known mammals.

3. You shouldn't touch them. It is said that most will get depressed and die shortly after being petted by human.
